Excellent Results for Early Years in Our Coastal Hub Exceed Expectations
It has been a year since Burnham Market Primary School and Wells-next-the-Sea Primary and Nursery School joined our Trust.
It has not always been an easy year but we have worked together to bring about rapid improvement. We were brought into very sharp focus by the visit of a DfE adviser in the autumn and both the schools and the Trust knew what had to be done. The reorganisation of the leadership of the two schools was complete with one Headteacher for both schools and a Deputy Headteacher and Senior Teacher in each school. All that was left to do was to reach the targets agreed with the DfE for KS2 outcomes.
The results achieved exceeded our wildest expectations. The refocussing of the already high quality teaching and an awakening of the ambition of the whole learning community meant that the pupils in Year 6 didn’t bother with the challenging Year 1 targets, they went straight for the Year 2 targets and either hit, exceeded, or came very close to national averages across the board.
The job is not yet done but great strides have been made and our congratulations go to all the pupils, staff, parents and governors of both schools.
