Charity Haircut for Little Princess Trust
Heather Avenue Infant School, part of The Wensum Trust, was delighted to play host to the incredible fundraising efforts of Year 2 student Nilay Cetin, aged just 6 years old, in her attempt to raise funds for charity.
The school had originally been approached by Nilay’s parents Malek and Halil Cetin, whose daughter wanted to have her very long hair cut and donated to the Little Princess Trust. The charity makes wigs from donated ‘real’ hair, for cancer patients who have lost their own hair due to chemotherapy.
On hearing the news of the charity event, another parent, Ibrahim Kanidagli who is a local hairdresser and owns Ingenious Scissors on Aylsham Road, kindly offered to do the haircut.
As well as the haircut event, the school will be holding a non-uniform day to help raise further funds for the charity.
Mrs Leigh Muff, Parent Support Adviser at the school said; “We are trying to raise as much money as possible for this worthy charitable cause, by highlighting the generosity of our pupils. This is an incredible thing to do at such a young age and shows the compassion shown by our pupils to those in need.”
