Goodbye Year 13!

Hellesdon High School says goodbye to Year 13 Leavers 2020/21

On Friday 28 May, our school community said goodbye to our Year 13 students. Due to Covid-19 restrictions and some beautiful weather (at last!), the Sixth Form hosted a 'Leavers' Barbecue' instead of the usual gathering in the Main Hall.

After a disrupted and challenging final year in Sixth Form, where we have been unable to hold whole year group assemblies, it was lovely to see such an excellent turnout and to be able to celebrate Year 13 moving on to their next steps. There was a lovely atmosphere on the day, and we really enjoyed sharing memories of the students' time at Hellesdon High.

“The last day of Sixth Form was an emotional day for us all, but the barbecue made it a brilliant day. Seeing everyone for the last time, including teachers, really was the best way to end our experience here. I will miss Sixth form and all of the team.”

— Alice Ward, Head girl

“It was a really great way to end a difficult couple of years, both students and staff having a good laugh and enjoying themselves. Best of all, there was plenty of hot dogs to go around!”

— Steve Gibbons, Head Boy

Mr Taylor, Director of Sixth Form, says “It was great to see so many Year 13 students and staff come together to celebrate our students' final day at Hellesdon High. We were very fortunate with the weather during lunch too, especially after the May we have had. My thanks to Chris (Catering Manager) and his team for putting together the barbecue, which was served very efficiently by the Sixth Form Team.”

We look forward to the Sixth Form Leavers Ball on Friday 25 June, Covid-19 restrictions all being well.
