Attainment 8 is a score of how well our students have performed in a range of 8 subjects (including English, Maths, Science, History or Geography and a modern foreign language. The national average score in England is around 46.7 each year.

The English Baccalaureate ('EBacc') is a set of subjects at GCSE that keeps young people’s options open for further study and future careers. Secondary schools are measured on the number of pupils that take GCSEs in these core subjects. The government’s ambition is to see 75% of pupils studying the EBacc subject combination at GCSE by 2022, and 90% by 2025
