Project 1: Laser cut keyring and Packaging project.

• The properties of plastics and metal and their environmental impact.
• How to write a product specification.
• How to Develop and communicate design ideas through annotated sketches.
• How to use CAD and Adobe software to design a laser cut keyring and graphics for its packaging.
• Knowledge of the computer aided manufacture process.
• How to test, evaluate and refine ideas and products against a specification

Students will be teacher assessed on the following areas after completion of tasks: Research /Design Development/Final piece.

Teacher advice will be given to allow students to develop and improve their work during lessons.

Each project will be assessed out of 20. Research = 10 marks and Design development/final piece = 10 marks.

Project 2:  Confectionery Packaging Design.

• How to research and identify target user needs.
• How to use the basic graphic design components of colour and typography within confectionery wrapper design.
• How to analyse the work of past and present professionals
