Component 3 - Responding to a brief
During year 11 learners will take part in practical workshops, activities and tasks, which will enable them to respond effectively to the final brief set by the exam board. The 4 main areas of study are:
• Understanding how to respond to a commercial music brief • Selecting and applying musical skills in response to a commercial music brief • Presenting a final musical product in response to a commercial music brief • Commenting on the creative process and outcome in response to a commercial music brief
All students will need to create music for their final piece and EITHER perform it OR produce it on a computer.
Students will be given guidance, tasks and opportunities to build on musical industry and personal skills they have acquired in order to complete their final piece. |

Learners will respond to a music industry brief either as a music creator and producer, or as a music creator and performer. The brief will consist of a scenario that will include a list of 10 pieces of music from a range of genres. |
