Welcome to Butterflies Class!
In Butterflies Class, our topic for the Spring is “Jungle Fever”. The children will be investigating the answers to the following questions:
- What is a jungle?
- Are rainforests the same as a jungle?
- Where are jungles found?
- Who lives in a jungle?
- What animals can be found in the jungle?
- What plants can be found in the jungle?
- What is happening to the jungle?
- How can we protect the jungle?
Our topics are integrated across the curriculum, throughout all subjects including our 'Big Writing' for English.
If you have any interesting artefacts, photos or even experiences your child would like to share which would link to our topic, please talk to your child’s teaching staff to arrange bringing them into school.
During International Week, we will be learning all about Egypt; the famous landmarks and buildings, traditional food and listening to music associated with Egypt. If you or your child would like to bring in any souvenirs or have any interesting facts, Miss Lilley would love to hear or see them during our International Week!
Please keep looking at Tapestry to see photos of our work.

We have PE every Wednesday and Friday. Please ensure that your child's PE kit is kept in school so that they have access to it at all times. This should include black shorts, a white t-shirt, plimsolls and black tracksuit bottoms or leggings. No earrings are to be worn for PE lessons, please take them out before school on these days.
Please also ensure that your child has spare clothing in their bags in case of any toilet accidents. These should be kept in school on your child’s coat peg.
Owls will be cooking on Thursdays. Please make sure that your child has a labelled container in school prior to cooking and that you have handed in a cooking donation at the beginning of the school year, so that they can take home their delicious treats.
Each week your child’s homework will be to complete 30 minutes of Maths Whizz and Reading Eggs which are assessed and monitored weekly. Children will read daily during their RWI lesson and we ask that they also read at home three times a week. Please sign your child's reading diary each time you hear them read. This will help your child to receive their reading sticker which contributes to them choosing a book to keep when their bookmark is filled with stickers. Every Friday each class will be competing for the reading trophy in celebration assembly - the more children that read 3 times a week, the more chance we have of winning!
If you have any queries or concerns, or if you would like an appointment to see your class teacher, Miss Lilley will be on the door each morning. If a meeting is needed, Mrs Howes is also available after school, however please contact her to arrange this in advance.
