NSPCC Number Day 2024

On Friday 2 February, Firside Junior School took part in the NSPCC Number Day. Number Day is an inclusive maths-inspired fundraising day for children in nursery right through to secondary school and we have now taken part for two years.

On the day, we asked the children to come to school in number themed outfits. It was fantastic to see the school a sea of numbers with some really creative outfits.

During the day, the children completed maths challenges in their maths lessons and Mr Townsend, our maths coordinator, organised a lunchtime filled with extra maths challenges for the children to complete.

Mr Townsend also enroled the whole school onto the NSPCC Number Day Times Table Rock Stars competition. This was a nationwide competition so it was fantastic to see that one of our pupils, Joshua in Year 5, came 7th in the East of England out of 29,523 pupils.

A great day! Thank you to Mr Townsend for organising and to everyone for taking part. Don't forget, there is still time to donate to the NSPCC here: https://www.nspcc.org.uk/support-us/ways-to-give/donate/
