Author Inspires Young Writers at Kinsale Infant School
Children at Kinsale Infant School were treated to a special visit from author James Campbell, who spent time inspiring pupils to start writing their own stories.
During his visit, James spoke to the children about how they do not have to wait until they are older to become authors. Instead, he encouraged them to start right away by writing down the ideas they already have in their heads. He shared that he himself was just seven years old when he decided he wanted to write stories.
The author showed pupils copies of his published books and explained how stories are created, giving them tips on how to build their own imaginative tales. Children were encouraged to join in throughout the session, sharing ideas and asking questions about what life is like as a writer.
The visit was full of laughter as James entertained the children with his humour and helped them make up their own funny and adventurous stories. Pupils particularly enjoyed his playful storytelling style and the chance to take part in creating stories together.
The visit also provided the perfect introduction to World Book Day, which the school are celebrating this week.
Martha McGibbon, English Lead at the school, said:
“Events like this are so important to help start a love of reading and writing at a young age. James captivated our children with his imaginative tales of adventure and funny stories full of laughter — we feel very lucky he was able to visit us.”
The event left many pupils excited to begin writing their own stories, proving that the next generation of authors may already be hard at work in the classrooms of Kinsale Infant School. 📚✏️
