1. Comics and Creatures – Livestreamed Event for Primary Schools
For Years 2–6, ages 6–11
Join this imaginative, art-packed session to explore comics and bring fantastical creatures to life. Thiago de Moraes - author, illustrator and creator of extraordinary non-fiction about mythical beings – will join author Viviane Schwarz to explore the wonders of comics and guide students through the joys of inventing fantasy worlds. Book here

2. Free book packs
We’ve received more funding for our FREE PACKS OF BOOKS, so are signing up another 40 schools! The packs are designed to support engagement with our termly author events and book celebrations, although there is absolutely no obligation to take part. We would love to include schools in your region and would be grateful if you could share with your teacher networks. We will select on a first- come-first-served basis while aiming for an even geographical spread. See below for more information about the programme.

To apply, schools should email childrens.books@bl.uk  providing the following information:

• Name
• School
• School address
• Levels of pupil premium or free school meals (or the equivalent in Scotland
or Wales)
• The number of students who will benefit from the packs

Discovering Children's Books
The British Library’s FREE Discovering Children's Books programme supports primary schools across the UK in developing a rich and diverse reading and writing culture. Through ‘author into school’ events, book-making challenges, and vivid online resources, we help children at KS2 get excited about books and engage in playful creative activities. Each year, to encourage schools to take part, we select 100 ‘target schools’ which will receive packs of 2-3 beautiful themed books on a termly basis. To qualify, the schools must demonstrate that more than
25% of their students are eligible for pupil premium and free school meals (or the equivalent in Scotland or Wales)
