Phonics Screening Check data for 2026 has been released!

The latest DfE data shows that 82% of Year 1 pupils met the expected standard, up from 80% in 2025 and back to pre-pandemic levels.

There are some really interesting findings around disadvantage, SEND, gender and regional attainment too — lots to reflect on as we continue to support schools with phonics and early reading.
