Celebrating 100 Days of School in Year 2!
Our Year 2 children have been counting each school day since September, eagerly anticipating the 100th day! Along the way, they’ve had fantastic mathematical discussions—working out how many tens and ones are in each number and figuring out how many more days until the next ten or until 100. We can’t believe how quickly 100 days has gone by – it seemed so far away when we started counting in September!
To celebrate the 100th day, children created something at home with their families to represent 100 and loved sharing their creations with friends. There were so many wonderful and creative ideas! We had 100 items in a jar, a caterpillar with 100 legs, a tree with 100 things hanging on it, a folder with 100 different maps of the world, Hedgehogs with 100 spikes on them and so many other wonderful ideas. A big well done to all the children and to their families for helping and supporting them.
On the day itself, we had so much fun with the number 100! We drew monsters with 100 body parts, tried to find as many ways to total 100 as possible, played Bingo, built with 100 pieces of Lego, and read Jellybeans, which showed us that 100 is actually tiny compared to a million!
It was a wonderful celebration of numbers, learning, and fun!
