Our School

Governors, staff and pupils at Lodge Lane Infant School would like to welcome you to our website.

Our approach to learning, which is based on Imaginative Inquiry, offers a creative and dynamic curriculum with a wide range of opportunities for our pupils to experience. Children enjoy coming to Lodge Lane, where we strive to ensure they develop a positive attitude towards learning.

We hope you find our website helpful and informative. However, please contact the school office if you would like to arrange a visit to have a look around our school, or if you cannot find the information you are looking for.

We look forward to welcoming you to our school.

For every child to feel they belong, to grow in confidence and independence, and to leave Lodge Lane curious, capable and ready for their next steps.

Our aims

  • Build strong foundations for learning, giving children the knowledge and skills they need, with reading, communication and language at the heart.

  • Make learning purposeful and engaging through imaginative inquiry, practical experiences, play and exploration, indoors and out.

  • Help children feel safe, be brave and show kindness, building trusting relationships and supporting them to understand their feelings, friendships and choices.

  • Give every child opportunities to succeed, understanding their starting points, responding to their needs and helping them recognise their progress.

  • Work closely with families, sharing what we know about each child and supporting their learning and development together.

Our Trust

Lodge Lane Infant School became part of The Wensum Trust on 1 February 2017.

The Wensum Trust is a family of schools across Norfolk, providing education from nursery through to sixth form. Its schools are organised into three geographical hubs—City, Rural and Coastal—with Lodge Lane forming part of the City hub.

The Trust has high aspirations for every child and believes that education should develop the whole person. Its priorities bring together mental health and wellbeing, learning and achievement, and the skills and aspirations children need for their futures. Children feeling safe, enjoying learning and having a sense of belonging are central to its definition of success.

A shared commitment to positive relationships underpins this approach. Across the Trust, schools work to understand children’s individual circumstances and help them develop confidence, manage their emotions and build healthy relationships. This fits closely with our approach at Lodge Lane and our everyday language of Safe, Brave, Kind.

Being part of the Trust allows schools to work together while retaining their individual character and developing a curriculum that meets the needs of their children. Schools also receive specialist support with teaching and learning and the practical running of the school, helping leaders focus on the education and care children receive.

At Lodge Lane, we particularly value our close working relationships with Garrick Green and Arden Grove infant schools. Sharing expertise, training and ideas helps us continue to improve our practice while keeping what makes Lodge Lane special.
