Welcome back...

This week we are starting our new project although as it is a very short half term it will be a mini project! The new project is Dangerous Dinosaurs. We will introduce the topic and go on a virtual visit to the Natural History Museum to learn a bit about fossils and their link to dinosaurs and the past. We will also read the story Bumpus Jumpus Dinosaurumpus and look carefully at the landscapes where the dinosaurs live to see what they needed to survive. The children will then create their own map of their dinosaur land adding all the features that the dinosaurs need.

This weeks stories are all dinosaur or dragon related.

In phonics Reception children are learning about the ow sound for ou and oa e.g. cow and bowl. Year ones are learning ew as ue e.g. pew. We are really focussing on the blending of words in phonics so that this skill is embedded and we are also trying to spot the digraph in a word before we attemot to read it.

The children will be reading indivdually and reading for pleasure. We are continuing with writing dictated senetnces and story scribes. We are still working on the formation of letters that strat with the c formation. This week we are practising g, q and e.

In RE we are learning about Spring and the signs to look out for. In RSHE we are learning why exercise is important to help us stay healthy.

The children will also have their weekly mindfulness and yoga session.

Don't forget it's parent teacher meetings next week and world book day - please see the newsletter for more details.
