Hellesdon Sixth Form

Y12/Y13 Space Masterclass

We were fortunate enough to host a guest speaker from the National Space Academy who delivered a day of activities and information to our Year 12 and 13 Physicists.

Students learnt more about the surprisingly diverse array of Space Industry careers, discovered how astronauts on the ISS overcome zero-g challenges, linked wider physics concepts to astrophysics and demonstrated collaboration and calculation skills in a variety of tasks.

Students built their own telescopes, competed with rocketry, modelled the expansion of the universe, experimented with pressure, oscillated masses, examined a space suit and held pieces of meteorite and the moon!"
