UEA Chemistry Taster Day

Students enjoyed an exciting and informative day at the University of East Anglia, gaining first-hand insight into university life and the study of chemistry.

What the day included:

• A hands-on chemistry laboratory session, giving students the chance to work in a real lab environment

• An engaging chemistry taster lecture

• A “Why Study at University?” talk, with a strong focus on science pathways

• A guided tour of the UEA campus

• Opportunities to chat informally with current UEA students and ask questions about student life

Student experience:

The feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive, with many describing the day as “excellent” and “fun.”
They particularly enjoyed the practical laboratory work, valuing the opportunity to test their skills and experience what studying chemistry at university is really like.

Students also reported learning a great deal about university life and what they could expect if they chose to study at UEA. Encouragingly, several students have since decided to apply to UEA within the Chemistry remit.
