Primary School Support
Who can access funding?
All state funded schools can refer themselves to an English Hub for support to develop phonics and early reading.
Wensum English Hub provides support across Norfolk and Suffolk.
Any state funded school, with EYFS, KS1 and KS3 aged children, are able to apply for funding and support. This includes; infant schools, primary schools, secondary schools, Ofsted rated Good/Outstanding schools, PRUs and Special Schools (accessible to schools which have pupil(s) taking the Phonic Screening Check).
How can we support you?
- Schools are invited to attend our free 30-minute Information briefing session – we have a variety of dates throughout the year – click here to sign up for a Support and Funding Briefing.
- Schools can complete an online self-referral form which can be found here. Please fill this in with as much information as possible. We will use this information to prioritise amongst schools. Alternatively, find a Word document self referral at the bottom of the page and send your completed form to: englishhubadmin@wensumtrust.org.uk
- Schools can request a free Reading Review from a member of the English Hub team. This will enable you to discuss your current early reading teaching, resources and provision. Reading Reviews are fully funded and schools are able to claim £100 in cost towards releasing staff for the visit. Funding offer will be sent on completion of the Reading Review.
- Support your school in developing or selecting a single systematic synthetic phonics program (SSP) for use from Reception to Year 6
- Following school training, we can deploy one practising classroom teacher as a Literacy Specialist to provide intensive school support for up to 12 days.
- Funding of up to £6000* is available to fund training and resources of a validated SSP
* Funding depends on meeting set criteria. Alternatively, match funding up to £3000 is available to schools.
