World Book Day 2026

Our school was bursting with colour, creativity and a love of reading as we celebrated World Book Day in style!

Children and staff were invited to come dressed as their favourite book characters, and the result was fantastic. From well-known heroes and magical creatures to classic storybook characters, the school was filled with imaginative costumes and excited readers ready to celebrate their favourite books.

The highlight of the day was our whole-school catwalk assembly, where everyone had the chance to show off their amazing outfits. One by one, children and staff proudly walked the runway, sharing their characters with the rest of the school. It was wonderful to see so many favourite stories represented and to celebrate the creativity of our school community.

After the catwalk, the fun continued with drama activities inspired by the story The Bookshop Cat. Classes explored the story through acting, role play and storytelling, bringing the characters and scenes to life. The hall and classrooms were full of imagination as children stepped into the world of the story.

The celebrations didn’t stop there! The following week we welcomed a special visit from Book Bugs and Dragon Tales, who led more exciting story-based activities in classes. The children had a fantastic time taking part in interactive storytelling and creative activities that helped bring even more books to life.

To encourage everyone to keep reading at home, each child also received a World Book Day book token, which can be used to choose a free book or put towards a new story to enjoy.

It was a wonderful celebration of reading across the whole school, reminding us all how magical books can be.
