Phonics

At Arden Grove Infant and Nursery we teach phonics through Read, Write Inc.

An important aspect of this is for children to be able to pronounce sounds clearly and correctly. The video below shows the sounds and lets your hear the correct pronunciation of these.

Once children are able to say the sounds they are then required to blend sounds together as they see them in words. This video will help you to support your child when they are blending.

Our Non Core Curriculum- Hellesdon In Our Hearts, Whole World At Our Feet

Our curriculum begins growing in Nursery through the seasons as the children begin by 'learning outside my window'. In Reception this continues to develop as they find out more about their local area and local people and how these link to their own lives and families. In KS1 the children start with local aspects and interests before going beyond this into the wider world and times. Below you can find the knowledge organisers for Year 1 and Year which clearly shows what knowledge they will be learning and building on, what they will be learning and key vocabulary they will  meet.
