Local Advisory Board

The Trustees of the Wensum Trust have overall responsibility for the organisation and running of the school.  This includes matters relating to standards, the school budget, staffing and buildings.

The school governors form the Local Advisory Board (LAB) and have devolved responsibility for the oversight of teaching and learning and for ensuring high standards in progress and outcomes for all children.  The role of the LAB is to:

• implement The Wensum Trust strategic aims / vision alongside Kinsale Junior School  vision and values
• to question and challenge leadership and to hold them to account for the educational performance of students, ensuring value for money
• overseeing school budget ensuring compliance with the financial handbook and the supplementary funding agreement
• to ensure compliance with statutory regulations and acts of parliament
• provide regular reports on governance & compliance and quality assurance of the trust provision

Our Local Advisory Board

Our LAB is combined with Firside Junior School.  They meet at least once each half-term and considers information provided by the headteacher and staff as well as information on progress and attainment.

There are no sub-committees, but members of the LAB each take at least one area of interest to support, challenge through relevant questions and assist in improving.  These responsibilities involve visits to both schools, meetings with lead staff and occasionally, interviews with groups of children.  The outcomes of visits are reported to the full LAB.  Governor responsibilities are linked to the School Improvement & Development Plan and statutory requirements.
