Our School Curriculum

At Firside Junior School, our curriculum places both children’s knowledge and skills as its core. Our aim is to have a curriculum that builds on prior learning by providing rich, child-centred learning experiences, which enable children to foster a love of learning through critical thinking, creativity and challenge. Our curriculum promotes independence and resilience in our learners.

At Firside Junior School, we aim to develop happy, healthy children. Every child is recognised as a unique individual, where differences are celebrated and welcomed within our school community.

At Firside Junior School, reading is at the heart of our curriculum. We promote reading for pleasure, for knowledge and for purpose. This enables pupils to explore and deepen their knowledge and understanding of the world around them.

Alongside this, our curriculum provides wider opportunities for pupils to learn beyond their classroom: through visitors, sport, drama, music and visits to their local area and further afield.

At Firside Junior School, our curriculum develops knowledge and understanding at a local, national and global level. We aim to foster the development of positive relationships to prepare our young people for learning, life and future successes.
