English
This week the children will be planning, writing and editing their own story of a Dragon Machine. They will be using all of the knowledge they have been taught over the last 2 weeks to plan and write their stories independently.
Maths
Year 1
This week we have been doing some maths assessments based on everything we have learned so far this year.
We have also started to learn about fractions. We have used felt shapes and folded them in half to find that both sides are the same and so to find a half you need to split things into 2 equal pieces. Then we began to think about how to find half of an amount. We know that we need to create 2 equal parts so we shared our objects into 2 groups.
AT HOME
Can you find the shapes that have half shaded?
Year 2
This week the children have been doing some maths assessments based on what we have learnt this year. We have continued with our Mastering Number daily and please continue to use Topmarks Daily 10 and White Rose 1 Minute Maths app.

Science Project - Plant Survival
This week we have made predictions using what we know about plants in our turf experiment. We have put 4 pieces of turf in different locations and with different conditions to see which will continue to grow and thrive and which won't.
We have also been watching our beans germinate and learnt about unusual plants that don't always needs the same things as other plants to survive and thrive. Did you know a lucky bamboo doesn't need soil? The children asked scientific questions about these unusual plants such as- Does it have roots? Where does it get water from? How can it stand up without soil?
Don’t forget…
Next week we have class open morning on Monday and Friday so you can come into class and have a look at your child(ren)s books.
Wednesday afternoon at 245pm is the family book share where you can come into class and enjoy a book of your choice.
