15h January 2024 Olive and Jade Class Blog

This week...

The books that we are reading daily are all books about emotions, so that the children get to hear about different feelings and what they might look like or feel. One of our stories we will go to the library for storytime. The children will all have time to look at books independently.

In our project 'Starry Night' we are learning about nocturnal animals and looking at their features that help them at night. The children will also have a go at sketching owls. We will also be listening to lullaby music and then the children will have a go at creating a dance to go with the music.

We will all be writing a dictated sentence twice during the week, continuing with story scribes and writing daily cvc words.

In phonics the EYFS children at learning about long vowels and the magic e or, as we also call them, split digraphs. The Year 1s are looking at the ay and oy digraphs.

In maths we are continuing to learn to about more and fewer than numbers up to 5. We will be looking at a number and then seeing if we can say a number thalis more or fewer.

In RSHE we will be talking about how to stay safe online and in RE we are continuing to look at New Year celebrations and learning about Chinese New Year and how it is celebrated. The children will also have their weekly DOTs (mindfulness) session.
