This week...
in project we explore colour mixing - the children painted their hands and mixed one of their hands with a friends to make a new colour. We also discussed similarities and differences between us and our friends and children around the world. The stories we will be reading in projects are -

We have been playing a variety of games over the past couple of weeks to help us with our listening skills, concentration and following instructions as well as games to help us to focus.
The children that know the first 6 sounds have been given a book and the level of that book depends on how their blending skills are. We will hear the children read once a week and change their book then. Please try to read a little every day with your child at home so they can really embed these early reading skills. Please write in their reading record book when you have heard them read.
This week we have covered the sounds: m, d, g,o, u. Please remember to look at the Jolly Phonics app for actions and songs to go with each sound. The link was posted in last weeks blog.
We have also been practising writing our names. Please can you carry on supporting your child at home with this, especially forming the letters correctly.
In maths we are looking at counting up to 4, how to make sure we are accurate and looking at how the number 4 is made up.

We are continuing with squiggle and dough disco to really help develop motor skills. We are also continuing to play both inside and outside.
We have also been making a piece of poppy art that will go on the school fence to be part of the poppy tour in Old Catton that the Royal British Legion have organised - why don't you come and see them in half term? We have talked to the children about what the poppy symbolises and why people wear them at the time of year.

There is the Halloween Pop-up Shop on Tuesday 21st October after school so please bring your spare change!
The daily stories in Jade class this week have been Winnie the Witch Stories.
Have a good week!
