Garrick Green

Infant School

Week beginning 17.11.25

This week .......

Our Talk Through Stories book was Where the Wild Things Are. The children seemed to enjoy this story. They also tried  to use the words that they remembered from Hugless Douglas.  We have played different games to help us  with emotions related to the book and also debating questions about how Max in the story behaved.

In Phonics we covered ch, sh, th/ th ( as in the and moth) , qu and ou.  This week we introduced some tricky words.  These are words that the children can not sound out, they have to recognise them.  We have looked at:   I, the, she, he, me.   We are continuing to practise letter formation every day and this week we have focussed on c.  The children have brought home a sheet to practise at home. We are really noticing a difference with some children as they are beginning to focus more. We are continuing with squiggle to help build our motor control.

We are continuing with story scribes and hearing the children read.

In Project we had the story Puss in Boots and we looked at the difference we could see in the book comparing long ago to today e.g. different clothes.

In maths we have been looking at and using the language equal, fewer and more than.  We set out a picnic for Little Red Riding Hood, Gran and the Woodcutter.  The children had to make sure that we had equal amounts of plates, spoons, cups and cakes for each character.

In RE we are talking about being thankful and in Jigsaw (PSHE) we are looking at making friends.

We are continuing to practice our singing to get ready for the nativity show.

Have a good week!
