Jade Class Blog - Week Commencing 26.1.26

This week ....
In phonics this week we have been learning that when there is a double consonant we just say it once when reading and we are also recapping the short vowels.
In Talk Through Stories we looked at the vocabulary used in My Monster and Me. We discussed the words‘ arrived, gigantic, growly, bossier, budge, stroked and suddenly’. We used a Wise About Words game to discuss which pets we would like to stroke and why? We had to decide whether we would like to stroke a rabbit or a snake and why? The children chose which side of the carpet to stand (rabbit side or snake side) and then gave reasons for their choice.
We carried on writing a set sentence three times this week and we tried to make sure our letters were the right way round and formed correctly. The children are getting better each week and are able to segment a word into the individual sounds so that they can spell it accurately or phonetically. We have been making sure that we use our tripod grip when using a pencil and making sure that our letters sit on the line.
In maths we looked at the order of numbers from 1 to 5. We looked at the Numberblocks and saw that they look like stairs going up by one each time. We also looked at the numbers , making sure we can recognise them.

In our Long Ago project, the children learnt about what a baby needs and how to look after babies. We also discussed the difference between what the children could do as a baby compared to now.
In RSHE we continued to look at dreams and goals and thinking about what we might want to be in the future. The children thought about what they need to learn to be able to do that.
