This week .....
in phonics, we learnt the alternative digraph for ou and oa - ow as cow and ow as snow. We also revised the blue tricky words and introduced the new tricky word - they. The children also continued writing set sentences this week using the tricky words - we or she.
This week in Talk Through Stories we discussed lots of different new vocabulary - ignored, slumbering, impressed, whimpered, craggy, meek, mighty and sparkled.

In maths we looked at different ways to make seven and linked this to the part/whole model. We also looked at finding 5 in the number 7 and then made a part whole model with the parts 5 and 2.
The children have been enjoying the nice weather this week and were able to go to visit the school garden to look for signs of spring .
In project we learnt about how paintings were used to capture the past before we had cameras. We also looked at different sculptures, including the work of Henry Moore. The children had a go at creating a clay tile of a face after listening to the story Katie and the Mona Lisa.

The children were very excited today to wear red tops for Comic Relief. Thank you very much for your donations.
Don’t forget that we have open afternoons next week on Tuesday and Thursday at 2.30 - 2.45. You should have received and email about this with a sign up sheet.
We are also having an Easter Phonic Story Cafe next Wednesday at 8.45. Please bring your child to the classroom door at the usual time for registration. You can then wait in the hall. The event will start off with a story in the hall and then we will be going outside for a phonic hunt ( even if it is raining so please bring wellies!) Hopefully the weather will be as nice as it has been this week.
