Jade Class Blog - week commencing 20.4.26

This week .......

in phonics we learnt the  alternatives for the or digraph - au (autumn) al (talk) and aw (saw) .  The children found this quite tricky so would benefit from practising reading lots of different words containing these alternatives.

We continued to read individually with each child and  encouraged them to change their own sharing book.  Please remember to write in their reading record books once they have read at home.

In Talk Through Stories, we read the book - A Little Bit Brave and then thought about how the characters behaved and why. The children are enjoying different Wise About Words activities to support their learning.

We will be writing a dictated sentence each day as well as continuing with story scribes.

In Maths we practised counting non moveable counters accurately by crossing them out.  We also used our class puppet Number Wumber to help us to count the number of children in our class.

In Project, we planted a sunflower seed and discussed what it needed in order to grow.  We read the book - I Can Grow a Sunflower.

We started our PE lessons this week and the children really enjoyed them.  Please make sure that on a Monday and Friday the children come to school in a full PE Kit which includes trainers and that they cover their earrings with tape or remove them.  Also please make sure that if your child has long hair, then they need to have it tied back.

We also had a visit from the Dentist.  The children were able to tell the Dentist how they cleaned their teeth.  They talked about what happens when you eat sugary food or drink.  They then had a go at cleaning model teeth.  All of the children were given a free toothbrush and toothpaste to bring home.
