Jade Class Blog - week commencing 8.6.26

This week ....

In phonics we have been revising the alternative ways for the digraph ie - igh, i -e, y.  We have also been carrying out phonic checks this week and lots of the children need to continue to read a range of words containing the split digraphs.

We haven’t done set sentence this week due to carrying out phonic, writing and maths assessments.

In Talk Through Stories we continued looking at After The Fall.  We discussed the meaning of the words:   eventually, famous, grand, fortunately, admit, perfect, terrified.

In maths we have been recalling number bonds to 5 and number bonds to 10.

The children can practise making number bonds to 10 using ten frames, part whole models and numicon.

We have also been practising counting beyond twenty.  Please can the children keep practising their number bonds and counting beyond twenty.

We have also been enjoying our outdoor area, especially making potions, making up stories on the Pirate Ship, challenging ourselves on the monkey bars and making buildings and outfits out of junk modelling.

Please can the children come to school with a coat every day as the weather can change during the day.    We have noticed that some of the children do not have spare clothes on their pegs. We are rather low on spare clothes in EYFS, especially trousers and socks.  If you have any spare, we would be happy to have them.

Have a lovely weekend and hopefully the weather will be nice.
