This week ....
This week ……
In phonics, we have revised the alternatives for the oa digraph, e.g. oa, oe, o-e. Some children still need extra practice recognising digraphs in words. We have now finished carrying out our phonic assessments and are really pleased with the progress that the children have made.
We also carried out set sentence assessments and the children did a fantastic job. They were able to use their phonic skills and tricky word knowledge to write a simple dictated sentence/ phrase.
The talk through stories book this week is Missing Richmond which the children are enjoying hearing all about how the teddy goes missing, then he gets rescued but the little boy realises that a little girl would be much happier if she had the teddy so gives it back.

In Maths we revised doubles to 5. We made equal groups and practised recalling our double numbers. We used our fingers to show equal groups. The children can use a range of resources to find double numbers e.g. numicon, small objects and counters.
We also continued counting beyond 20 and recalling number bonds to 5.
In project, we read the book - I Can Eat a Rainbow.

We then identified lots of different fruit and talked about our favourite fruits. We used magnifying glasses to look at the inside of a passion fruit, pomegranate, kiwi, orange and tomato. We also used pencils to sketch the inside of the fruit and some children decided that they would also like to use pastels to draw pictures on black paper.
In RE, the children listened to the story - Dogger and discussed objects which are special to them. We talked about feelings, especially when you lose something special to you.

Please remember to apply sun cream before school. The children need a water bottle every day. They do not need a hat as they all have a school hat.
