MATHS counting in 2s, 5s, 10s and times tables

How far can you count in 2s? Can you count all the pairs of shoes or socks?

How far can you count in 5s? Can you count all the fingers and toes in your house? Can you count 5p coins?

How far can you count in 10s? Can you count 10p coins?

Use this online resources to help create the patterns…

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/paint-the-squares What do you notice?

Write down numbers in 2s, 5s and 10s up to 50

Play fizz buzz (stand in a circle and everyone says one number each- 1, 2, 3, 4 but when you get to a multiple of 5 for say FIZZBUZZ instead). This can be played for 2s and 10s as well and takes lots of practice

Solve simple problems such as these...

If an apple costs 5p how much will 3 apples cost?

Alice the camel has 2 humps. How many humps will 6 camels have?

The shop has 4 boxes of crayons. There are 10 in each box. How many crayons do they have altogether?

Can you create your own problems and share them with your friends?

ENGLISH

Our topic for Summer term is Best of British. This week we would like you to research a famous British person of interest to you. If you aren’t sure perhaps you could read about…

  • Alexander Bell
  • John Logie Baird
  • Tim Henman
  • David Beckham
  • Kelly Homles

Then you could...

- Write a fact file about your chosen famous person. When were they born? Where were they born? Why are they famous? Can you find out any fun facts about this person?

- Create a Top Trumps card about your chosen person

- Write a fiction story about your famous person. Perhaps they go on an adventure? Maybe they become famous for another reason? Draw a story map of ideas to sequence the events in your story. Remember to have a beginning, middle and end. In year 1 we often use three boxes to draw a beginning, middle and end. In year 2 we often draw pictures with arrows to sequence the events in our story.

- Look around the house and find things which are made in Britain. Can you make a list?

TOPIC

Our new topic is Best of British. British people are well known for their love of gardens. We would like you to make, draw or create your very own park or garden.
