Maths
In year 1 we have been using our knowledge of tens and ones to find numbers on a 1-100 number line. We then used 100 bead strings to measure objects and put our knowledge of tens and ones into practise by counting the beads. Towards the end of the week we had the questions “Which is greater 75 or 25?” and “Which is greater 45 or 48?” We have looked at which part of a number changed - the tens or the ones - and made the numbers to check what we thought.
Can you compare these numbers?
Have the tens changed or the ones?
What about these?
What has changed?
Year 2 maths
This week we have been recapping fractions. We know that a fraction is a part of something whole or a group of objects. We have learnt that 2/4 is the same as a ½ and also used bar models to help us find ¼, 2/4 and ¾ of amounts.
Which would you rather - ½ of 16 or ¾ of 12?
Can you explain your reason?
