Reports about Queen Elizabeth & multiplication

Big Talk

This week we would like you to talk about the Queen. The children will be writing a report about the Queen and we would love it if they could share their ideas and knowledge with you at home. (Please see English below).

English

We have carried on learning about the life of Queen Elizabeth II this week after our topic lesson on Friday where we created a timeline to show key events in her life. We have been gathering information using a spider digram to help us to write a report later in the week. At home, it would be great if you could talk to your child about which subheadings they have chosen and support them in saying out loud what they are going to write under each one. You could also do some research at home to find some fun facts about the Queen!

Maths

We have continued with multiplication this week and learnt about arrays. Here is some useful information about arrays on the BBC website...https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zwv39j6/articles/z6yd96f and https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button

We have been practically making arrays, describing arrays and drawing arrays. This will help us after half-term when we begin to look at division. We know that multiplication is commutative and arrays have helped us to see this. Click this link to find our more about commutative law - https://youtu.be/WYgqRpydBh8

Topic

In our topic this week we will be learning about the design on pennants and shields. Children will be designing their own pennant and also learning about to correctly and safely use a glue gun. This will help them next half-term with a bigger D&T project we have planned!
