Infant School

Year 1 Blog w/c 8th March

First week back after lockdown.

We have been really excited to welcome the children back into school again this week and they have settled into the classroom really well. It has been lovely to see all the smiling faces and hear all the chatter as the children have had the chance to catch up with their friends once again.

This week we have been focussing on getting back in to school routines and doing lots of playing with our friends. The children have been taking part in circle time to talk about how everyone is feeling now that we are back in school. It has also helped us to talk about emotions and to find ways to solve problems and arguments with our friends.

We have been doing mental maths every day - counting forwards and backwards, counting in 10's, 5's and 2's. The children will also be learning about weight, capacity and measuring over the next 3 weeks and will have opportunities to explore lots of practical activities to support their learning.

In phonics we are recapping all the sounds and working on spotting them quickly in words so that we can read sentences accurately.

We have also been trying to get outdoors every day to take part in something physical. We had great fun with Mr Brister jumping in the puddles! Hopefully the weather will improve soon and we can do lots more PE activities with him.
