Garrick Green Coronation Celebration

We had a wonderful day celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III.

We all dressed up in red, white and blue which helped brighten rather a rainy afternoon!

Children learnt about the King and the Coronation through the week and enjoyed preparing for this event by making crowns, learning the National Anthem and designing commemorative mugs.

They enjoyed a Street Party lunch - albeit indoors - the crown shaped iced biscuits went down particularly well.

Children in Jade and Olive classes decorated plant pots and took home a broad bean plant along with the recipe for the Coronation Quiche.

In Emerald, Teal and Sage classes they made a thaumatrope - what on earth is that we hear you ask! It's a Victorian optical illusion toy and these ones show King Charles on one side and the crown on the other - look at the video! These children have been learning about Victorian school days so it was a perfect link.
