Sports Week and Activities 2025
We have had a super summer term enjoying lots of different sporting events at Garrick Green.
We started by taking each year group to North Walsham Rugby Club at Scottow for a rugby festival along with other schools from the Wensum Trust. This club is one of our Trust’s partners and we were very excited to be part of this event – the first one to be held.
In the Spring term, Key Stage 1 children had rugby coaches from North Walsham club come into school to teach them some basic skills such as passing and throwing as part of their PE lessons. All of the children enjoyed this so they were looking forward to putting these skills into practice.
Each year group were joined by other schools from the Wensum Trust to take part in a carousel of games led by the rugby coaches. Luckily, we had great weather for all three trips. For lots of children the highlight of their day was getting to have a picnic lunch outside!
Thank you to Niall and the team at North Walsham rugby club for making these days possible. It was lovely to see so many children taking part.
Next we took the entire school to the UEA Sportspark for a fun-filled day of different activities. Each class got to take part in basketball, circuits, kwik-cricket, track races and throwing. We were really lucky with the weather and got to enjoy another outdoor picnic.

During sports week the Friends of Garrick Green very kindly paid for Highline Adventure to bring in a bouldering wall to explore. Thank you FOGG - this was a great start to the week!

During sports week we also had sessions from Mr Lambe from LB Coaching. Olive, Jade & Sage really enjoyed having a go at archery.

Dave from ESKA came in to give us a Tiny Tigers Karate taster session, which incorporates Karate techniques with Judo breakfalls and wrestling to promote physical and mental skills.
We also got to did lots of different sports with our classes including parachute games, hoop games, team work challenges and beanbag challenges.
We ended the week and summer term with Sports Day. Children enjoyed football races, egg & spoon, relay races, running races and the teamwork beanbag race. Thank you to all the families who came to watch and especially to those who joined in the parent and toddler races at the end!
