Jade and Lime Class Blog - week commencing 28.9.26

This week..

The children enjoyed playing outside, especially on the monkey bars and the pirate ship.  They have also been very creative when playing in our construction area.  It has been so lovely seeing the children work closely as a team to build and design their own houses.  They have also worked hard as teams when using our wooden planks, crates, tyres and ladders when making their own obstacle courses.

We have continued with dough disco - we will make the fingers strong enough to write!!

We have also started our Project Me and my Community. The children have looked at our school, all the different people in it and also the different areas in the school building. We have talked about what makes us special. We are also beginning to talk about feelings and how we can demonstrate a feeling on our face. The children have discussed growing up and families.  We read the story, Once There Were Giants and talked about how we grow from babies to adults.

We also listened to the story - The Lion and the Mouse and talked about our different kinds of emotions.  We then practised using our bodies and faces to show different types of emotions.

We are introducing how we talk about behaviour in school to the children and explaining about Flipping your lid. We watched the cosmic kids episode on the guard dog and the wise owl as this explains the has and brain model to the children really effectively. You can see this here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNycQraNYhM

We reintroduced the  calm area in the classroom and explained that the children can go there if they need to have some time.

The children have worked very hard this week on painting their Christmas Cards.  There will be information sent to you at a later date informing you on how you can order Christmas Cards and a variety of stationary with your child's design on.  Please look out for an email from the office!!!

We are looking forward to seeing you all at our Curriculum meeting on Monday 5th October at 2pm in the hall.

Have a lovely weekend.
