Jade blog week beginning 10.11.25

This week

  • In phonics this week we have covered ng, v, oo/oo  (book, moon) y, x.  We have been continuing with story scribes. We have also been practising forming the letter o. Please keep reading at home as daily practice of reading can really help even if it is just for 5 minutes every day and remember to write in your child’s reading record book once they have read.

  • This week in Talk Through Stories we looked at vocabulary and talked about 8 words from Hugless Douglass and  about the meaning of those words. We encouraged the children to  use the words throughout the week to show us that they understood the meaning. The words this week were snuggled, trembled, peeped, clumsy scooped, wriggled, squeeze and wrapped.

  • In maths we  practised using different strategies for finding out ‘how many’ objects we had altogether.  The children were introduced to a die frame to show how 5 can be represented.  They also looked at how 2 die frames would represent 2 lots of 5 - making 10 altogether.

  • In Project we  read the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears and  acted the story out.    We also read The Magic Porridge Pot and talked about healthy eating and making good choices with food.

  • We are also discussing general safety in school.

  • Have a good week!
