This week ....

The children have been working very hard over the past couple of weeks practising for their Nativity show.  We are all very proud of the children and their achievement.  They had a lot of songs to learn as well as remembering lines.

We have now finished our assessments and have been hearing the children read this week.  In phonics we are revising some digraphs, including ou, oi, ue, er and ar.  Please can you keep practising recognising these digraphs.  We have also been practising segmenting and blending cvc words e.g. cat as some of the children are still not consistent with this.

We have also been practising forming the letters g and d.  Please continue to practise forming the ‘curly’ letters with your children.  These are:  c, o, a, d, g.  Some of the children are starting these letters at the bottom.

Last week in  Talk Through Stories we focussed on the story Stick Man by Julia Donaldson which the children are thoroughly enjoyed it,  espcecially as it is quite a wintery story with Father Christmas in too! You can watch it here.

In RE the children read the story The Shepherd Girl of Bethlehem in relation to the Christmas story. We also listened to  the Christmas Carol - We Three Kings.

Have a good week!
