This week ......
Welcome back!! We hope that you had a lovely half term. They are very excited to see the new climbing frame and can't wait to use it!!! A big thank you to FOGG for making this possible.
In phonics we learnt oy as oi e.g. boy and ay as ai e.g play. We continued to read with the children throughout the week. We continued with dictated sentences for 3 days and the children got lots of practice of the key skills which are then embedded in enough time before they go into Year 1. We continued with story scribing and acting these out. We also continued to practise our handwriting because lots of the children are still struggling to do a ‘w’ and ‘z’ correctly. We have given the children a handwriting sheet to practise at home.
In maths we are looking at the order of numbers and using the language of more and fewer to describe them. We also looked at quantities of objects and talked about which group had more and which group had fewer.

We also practised partitioning numbers 6,7,and 8 into 5 and a bit. We looked for the number block 5 in each of these numbers and then looked at how this was represented on a ten frame and a part/whole model.

In project we looked at different toys, including baby toys. We discussed what materials the toys were made out of and if they were suitable for babies. We decided that heavy, sharp or small toys were not suitable. The children talked about how toys made out of soft plastic and fabric are ok but glass or metal was not a good material to use.

In RE we talked about Shrove Tuesday and read the story Pancakes, Pancakes by Eric Carle.

In RSHE we revised Flipping Your Lid and talked about our facial expressions for different emotions and The Wise Owl and The Guard Dog.
