Jade Class Blog - week commencing 23.3.26

This week .....

in phonics we have been learning about ur and ir as alternatives for the er digraph e. surf and girl. We have talked about er normally coming at the end of a word.

In Maths we have been thinking about doubles and linking this to part/whole models.  We used our fingers to make 2 equal parts and then  used the sentence e.g.:

We also 6 is made of 3 and 3 ; 3 and 3 make 6

In RE this week we talked about the Easter Story, signs of Spring and new life.  The children then created their own Easter Cards using symbols of Easter.

Thank you to all of you who came to our Story Cafe, the children enjoyed listening to the story - The First Egg Hunt.  They were especially excited to hunt for different sounds in the school grounds.

The children had a special treat on Thursday when they had a visit from Mini Monsters.  They were all very brave and had the opportunity to touch a  giant Millipede , a Corn Snake and Snail and a Bearded Dragon.

After the Easter break, the children will be having a PE lesson on a Monday afternoon and will also be doing Rugby on Friday afternoons.  This will start on the second week back - week commencing 20th April.  On these days, the children will need to come to school in a  plain white short sleeved polo shirt and plain black jogging bottoms, leggings or shorts and an official school sweatshirt or cardigan with Garrick Green logo.

Have a lovely break.
