Jade Class Blog - Week Commencing 29.6.26

This week .....

In Phonics we revised the alternatives for the digraph ‘or’ - e.g. au, al, aw.  We also continued reading the blue and yellow tricky words.  The children are eager to recognise all of the yellow tricky words on sight!  Please keep practising at home.

In Maths, we have been recalling our number bonds to 5.  The children are getting quicker at recalling these facts without using any manipulatives.  It would be great if they could continue to practise this at home.

We have had a very busy week and on Monday we went to the hall to watch the Year 2 children perform in their show.  The children were a fantastic audience and really enjoyed the show, they wanted to watch it again.

In project, the children listened to the story - Farmyard Hullabaloo.  We then talked about how food is also grown on farms and looked more closely at rice and lentils.

We then used rice and lentils to make our own musical instruments.  The children had a fantastic time making shakers and decorating them.  Once they had finished, we sang Old MacDonald Had A Farm and played our shakers in time to the music.

The highlight of the week was our visit to North Walsham Rugby Club.  The children had an amazing time and were absolute stars!!!  They listened well, joined in games such as tag rugby, team games  which involved passing, throwing and kicking the ball.

Don’t forget the Summer Fair tonight ( Friday 3rd July) at 4.30pm.  Please bring your spare change to spend on lots of our fantastic stalls!!

Next week is Sport’s Week so the children will need to come to school everyday in shorts and t-shirt.  They can save their white t-shirt for Sport’s Day which is next Friday (10th July).  There will also be a family picnic after the sports morning.  We hope that you can join us on the school field.
