This week...

is a really short week as we will be breaking up for the Easter break on Wednesday at 3pm.

In project this week we are learning about ammonites and the children will have a go at making a copy of an ammonite out of clay. When the clay is dry the children will bring their ammonite home.

In Phonics Reception are learning about ph as an alternative for f e.g. dolphin. Year 1 are learning about the soft g.

Soft G Sound (songs, videos, games, activities)

We will be writing a dictated sentence and if you'd like to practise this over the holidays then you can say a simple sentence, using words that they can sound out to your child and get them to write a word at a time. Remind them about finger spaces and letter formation. Some examples - A cat went out. The man had a hat. We can run fast.

We will be continuing story scribing and acting them out. We have put a letter formation booklet for the curly caterpillar letters in the children's bookbags to practise over the holidays - these are the letters that they find quite difficult, so the more practice they get the easier they will find them.

We will hear all the children read and will put an extra reading book in bookbags so your child can continue reading over the holidays.

In maths we are doing some more work on number bonds to 5 and the related subtraction facts

We will also be looking at adding one more when we are counting forwards past 20 and thinking about the next -ty number by looking at the patterns of numbers.

We wish you all a lovely break!
