Olive and Jade Blog 29.1.24

This week...

for our project lessons this week we are reading the story 'Whatever Next', we will act out the story and learn about the first landing on the moon. We will also do some music appreciation by listening to some classical lullaby music.

The class stories this week for Olive are books about space and Jade class have got dinosaur stories.

Reception children are learning about the alternatives for oi and ai as in ay and oy e.g. boy, tray. Year 1s are learning the alternatives for ie as in igh and y e.g. high and sky.

We will be writing independent sentences through dictated sentences and continuing with our story scribes. Plus we will hear everyone read.

In maths we are learning about the number 6. We are also looking at equal numbers and showing we know what an equal number is by seeing an amount and showing the equal number of fingers. We are practising counting out the right number of objects. We are also starting to solve basic maths problems e.g. there are 4 children and we have 3 biscuits, how many more do we need so that everyone has one?

In RE we are learning more about Chinese new year and the different celebrations that take place. The children will also have their weekly mindfulness session.
