this week...
In phonics we have split in to two groups as there are some children need to work more on the digraphs so they are revising these while the rest of the children are concentrating on the alternatives for the long e - e_e, ea and ee. The Year 1s are practising for the phonics check so will be doing lots of practice sounding out and blending so they are ready!
The talk through stories book this week is Missing Richmond which the children are enjoying hearing all about how the teddy goes missing, then he gets rescued but the little boy realises that a little girl would be much happier if she had the teddy so gives it back.
We will be continuing to hear the children read over the week and we are assessing phonics to see what the children have remembered.
We have also done an assessed piece of writing where the children have written a sentence independently. All of these assessments help us to build up a picture for end of year assessments. We will not be doing story scribes this week. We will be continuing to write a daily sentence or word as early morning work which is based on a picture. The children will also be practising their handwriting of d
Last week for project we had a visit from a Vet (I forgot to write it in last week's blog!) The children loved helping the vert diagnose what was wrong with the pet dog and then they used the stethoscope to listen to their own hearts. They learned how vets help animals and also ways in which to take care of pets.
This week we are hoping to have a visit from a fire engine and learn about other people who help us. The children will get to look inside the fire engine and also have a go at using the pipe to squirt water like the Fire Brigade do when they put out fires.
We are also starting maths assessments this week so see what the children have remembered so we are not doing maths lessons as such.
In RSHE we have all revised the NSPCC PANTS rule and you can find out more about this here In RE the children have listened to the story coif Noah's Ark.
Have a good week!
