Olive and Jade Blog week beginning 18.3.24

This week...

We are reading the story Cave Baby as part of our project work. We will look at how cave paintings were done and then we will draw our own picture of a prehistoric animal using our sketching skills.

The stories this week in both classes are all based on animals. We are continuing to do write a dictated sentence twice in the week plus one as part of our phonics lessons. The children are continuing with their story scribing and acting them out.

In phonics Reception are learning about the alternatives for the or digraph - al (talk) au (autumn) and aw (awful) and Year 1s are looking at the soft c sound.

In maths we are looking at a number track and learning about one more and one less using the number track to help us.. We have also looked at the staircase pattern to notice the numberblock getting one more each time you go up the staircase or one less if you down the staircase.

We are also looking at the part whole model for 5 and seeing if we can work out the missing number e.g. 5 = 3 + ?

In RE we are continuing to learn about Easter. In RSHE we learning about stranger danger.

On Wednesday at 2.45pm it is our family bookshare where we invite parents/grandparents/other family members into class to share a book with their child/ren - we look forward to seeing as many of you who can make it.

On Friday the teachers all swap classes and share a story with a different class.
