Teacher: Mrs Norman
Last half term our topic was: Ice.
We looked at where the Polar regions are and how we can find them on a map. We found out about The Arctic, Antarctica, The Equator and the two different hemispheres. We looked at which animals live in these places and what their diet and habitat is like. We were able to create a non-chronological report on a Polar animal of our choice.
We also found out about Ernest Shackleton who travelled to Antarctica to try to reach the South Pole. Sadly, despite three different trips, he never made it to the South Pole! In English, we were pretending to be him and wrote letters back home telling our family what life was like.
In Maths, we were continuing with our daily calculations and we also covered units of work on division, measuring and word problems.
We loved our weekly woodland sessions and always looked forward to what Lindsey had planned for us. We made fires and even toasted marshmallows or waffles over it. One week, we made Owl ice cream and Gruffalo crumble.
Class Dojo is our main form of communication with parents. We try to post most days and this could be information about your child's learning, reminders or general notices.
A home learning menu will be given out at the beginning of each half term. Your child will need to complete a minimum of 5 activities each half term, handing them in on a Thursday.
Please ensure your child's clothing and belongings are clearly labelled including their woodland kit.
