Wicked Fairy Tales
We have been looking at the story The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig. After acting out sections, we used the story to develop other fairy story characters. What if Sleeping Beauty wasn't as sweet as she is portrayed, or Goldilocks was someone who breaks and enters houses? How about the poor old giant who had his house burgled by Jack? This led onto the children writing their own version of a fairy story character.
Butterflies of Britain have continued to run our woodland session this year, which we have all enjoyed. The children have really developed their ability to play imaginatively during their wild play sessions and assess risks and challenge themselves appropriately.
Although they have only just started to learn French, the class have taken to it comme un poisson dans l'eau. They already can carry out a small conversation: asking 'how are you?' and 'what is your name?'
As I am sure you know, reading is an essential part of your child’s education. This year, the student council are continuing to run a reading challenge with the chance to win a small trophy for the class each week. The minimum time spent reading at home is three times a week. If your child reads every night of the week, they become a Year 3 reading champion!
Outdoor learning will continue as usual on a Friday afternoon. It is important your child brings an appropriate change of clothes – long sleeves and trousers as well as suitable footwear.
Our class PE days this half term are Wednesday and Thursday.
Please ensure your child has the full and correct PE kit on these days.
Class Dojo will continue to be used this year. It is a great space where you can view photos, videos and information about what is happening in Year 3 and across the school. If you require another invitation to join, please don’t hesitate to ask.
A homework menu will be given out at the beginning of each half term. Your child will need to complete a minimum of 5 activities each half term, handing one piece in each week on a Thursday. There is a homework club available if help or resources are needed. In addition to this, children will also bring home spellings to learn.
Please can you ensure that all belongings and named (PE Kits – Wellies – School Uniform – Bags – Coats – Water bottles etc).
