How Hill and New Classes

New Classes

This week all the children went to visit their new class and find out their class teacher. Everyone seemed to have a lovely visit and came back excited for next year. You should also have had an e-mail telling you the teacher's name and class. There will be another visit next week.

The year 2 children who are going to OCJS also had a visit this week and got to meet their teacher for year 3. Other junior schools have visits for the children next week.

How Hill

The year 1 and 2 children all went on a trip to How Hill this week. We went on a nature trail where we learned about the difference between dry and wet woodland, found out about how to identify different trees, saw how high a squirrel can make its nest, got to jump lots and feel the ground move and saw how deep the mud on the broads really is. We paused halfway along the walk to visit the bird hide and spot birds on the water. On the way back we were lucky enough to see a air of swans and their 3 signets lazing on the path! We also used natural materials in the woodland and worked in teams to create a picture frame and woodland art in the style of Andy Goldsworthy. Finally, we made woodland bookmarks. It was a really busy day and the children were fabulous.

At School

Following our trips to How hill the children have made "Thank you" cards, created their own natural art, made comic strips about the trip and created fact sheets about what we did.

SPORTS WEEK

Next week is "Sports week" The children will be taking part in a range of different activities throughout the week. We will also be learning about the importance of a healthy, balanced diet and exercise. They will need to wear PE kit every day.
