The Magic Bed and counting.

English

For English over the next few weeks we are reading the story "The Magic Bed" by John Burningham. This week Mrs Perkins snuggled up in a bed in the classroom and went to sleep! She had an amazing dream. The children also had a turn at snuggling in the bed and seeing where their dream took them. We talked about the different places we went in our dream, the things we saw and heard. We then explored all the different settings and described them using adjectives and similes. In our grammar lessons we learned about nouns - naming a person, a place or a thing. Then we found out that proper nouns need a capital letter. We have had a try at writing 2 sentences and remembering to use capital letters, full stops, finger spaces and adjectives. Then adding a proper noun too. This proved to be really tricky!

AT HOME

Use the sentence starters given and write 2 sentences for the characters below. I have written one so you can see.  Don't forget capital letters for the proper noun!

Maths

In Maths this week we have been learning about multiplication. We have focussed on counting in 2's 5's and 10's. We learned this is also called "repeated addition". Here are some examples.

Topic

Our topic work this week has been thinking about where we live; Old Catton. We have talked about the different things we see in Old Catton - the shop, the recd, the church, the fields, the school. Then we found Cromer on google maps and talked about things we can see when we go to the seaside - the beach, the pier, ice cream shops, the lifeboat station. We have compared both places and though about things that are similar and different.
